Lisa McGraw

When my two girls were young, my husband and I made a point of reading to them every night before bed. Some nights we were busy, or it was late, and it was so tempting to just skip it one night. But then it would be even easier to skip it again the next time. Reading to our girls at bedtime was more than just fostering a love of reading. It was a commitment we made to them. A moment of our time sacrificed.
My goal with Wondering Willow Books is to produce early learning books that make that commitment a little easier for parents by creating stories that engage and encourage in 5 minutes or so. Books that will foster a desire to read more, therefore learn more, from the earliest age onward.
My “Good Night” books are written with the 2 – 5-year-old in mind. These are quick and easy to read stories with fun graphics and light facts. “Did you Know” pages at the end provide a few additional facts. The first book in this series, Rock Collecting Robots from Outer Space, explores minerals and their colors. Future books will encourage you to dive into the ocean to play with sea creatures, travel the globe with Grimly the tractor, and soar into space with an octopus named Clyde.
My “Learn About” books will be written with the 5 – 8-year-old in mind. They will contain a little more detail while still keeping with my goal of creating engaging and fun-to-read stories.
You will be able to join robots Lem and Ar-J as they delve into the study of Geology a little deeper and learn more about rocks and minerals. Grimly the tractor will travel the United States learning about the animals that live in our natural spaces.
I’ve also written a board book with the very youngest learner in mind. An imaginative look into what the perfect dinosaur would look like…
